Spore Color:Pale Yellow.
Size, Smell, Taste:cap 3 to 10 cm across. Stipe 2 to 7 cm. Odor indistinct, taste slightly bitter-acrid.
Niche (substrate):Solitary, scattered or in small clusters on the ground, in moss or duff in mixed forests. Grows with hardwoods and conifers alike and is especially common with Douglas fir and live oak.
Edibility:Poisonous.
Distinguishing features:Pinkish orange, zonate, and often spotted cap, creamy to pale orange gills, and whte latex turning bright yellow are a distinctive set of features.
